After a tripartite meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia in Sochi, the EU queue came to demonstrate its effectiveness in the issue of Azerbaijani-Armenian mediation, the Stratfor’s American private intelligence and analytical company said.
“Russia’s inability to help the parties to achieve a breakthrough (in Sochi October 31 – IF) will again shift the focus of attention to the ability of the European Union to act an effective intermediary at Armenian -Azerbaijani meetings planned for November,” Interfax Azerbaijan reports with reference to reference to Stratfor.
There they noted the remarks of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin following a meeting in Sochi that during the discussions it was possible to coordinate “not all”, “some things had to be removed from the statements previously worked out at the level of specialists of the statement.” StratFor suggested that the moments removed from the tripartite statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia belonged to the “remaining obstacles to the agreement” or “The role of Russia” in resolving the issue.
Stratfor believes that the Zangezur corridor remains a stumbling block (“Azerbaijan’s requirements for access to his exclus Nakhchivan through Armenia”, as is called in the company) and the issue of Karabakh at the conclusion of a peace treaty.
