AirThings Masters is the first of the nine tournaments of the Chess Tour of the Meltwater 2022 champions with a prize fund of 1.6 million dollars, which takes place from February 19 to 26. World Champion Magnus Karlsen and 15 more stars of world chess play first on a circular system. Then the eight best will go to the playoffs, where matches of four parties in one day will play in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The final will consist of two matches for four parties.
The prize fund of the current tournament is 150 thousand dollars. The winner will receive 25 thousand. In addition, 750 dollars rely on the victory in each batch in qualifications, for a draw – 250.
Time control – 15 minutes per batch with an additive of 10 seconds for each moved. In the case of a draw in the playoffs there will be a tay-break from two batches with Blitz-control 5 + 3, and if the bill remains equal, it will be Armageddon, where white 5 minutes, in black 4 minutes, but draw is a draw of black. It is forbidden to offer a draw up to the 40th course.
