As it became known to Haqqin.az, the other day in a solemn atmosphere in Baku, three Azerbaijani cities – Sheki, Hyrdalan and Lankaran received grants of the European Union to create cultural development strategies.
Along with them in rivalry, cities from the countries of the Eastern Partnership – Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia participated in rivalry. In total, 70 applicants participated in the competition.
Azerbaijani cities will receive grants for 30 thousand euros specifically to create cultural development strategies. This is the second stage of the competition ideas in the field of culture. At the final stage of the competition, one of the three applicants will receive 300 thousand euros for the implementation of the strategy.
The whole project within the European Union is called EU4Culture, which means “European Union for Culture”. It is designed for 4 years and aims to support culture and the creative sector, focuses on non-stationary cities in the Eastern Partnership countries.
The cultural heritage of Azerbaijan attracts attention not only to this project of the European Union. The Goethe Center in Baku, together with the EU’s office in Azerbaijan, the administration of the Historical and Architecture Reserve “Icherisheher” and Platform Art organizes the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art “Eastern Heritage”. It will present the works of Agdes Bagirzade, Andreas Lang, Andre North and Sabina Shikhlinskaya.
Exposure can be viewed from November 17 to December 1 in the historic bath Gasim Beck Hammam XVII century. As you know, located near the Saliance Gate Icherisheher, the bath called “sweet bath” for sweets, which was served here to visitors together with tea.
