Germany should prepare for further escalation in Ukraine, therefore, it should simultaneously strengthen defense capacity and defend economic independence from any country, the German Chancellor Olaf Sholts said at an economic conference in Berlin, writes Deutsche Welle.
An example of increasing the defense potential of the Bundeswehr, Scholz called the new defense fund in the amount of 100 billion euros. He explained his recent trip to China with the need to make a joint statement with the chairman of China Xi Jinping about the unacceptability of the use of nuclear weapons.
To Germany does not repeat the scenario of economic dependence on Russia, Scholz called the German business for versatile cooperation with international partners. He reminded the existence of “strong but underestimated” countries of which can be considered as business partners – India, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Korea.
