German Chancellor Olaf Sholts believes that the unsuccessful rebellion of the head of the Wagner PMC Evgenia Prigozhin weakened the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The head of the government said this in an interview with the public broadcaster ARD.
“This indicates that in autocratic structures, power structures there are cracks, and that he [Putin] does not sit at all as tightly and firmly in the chair. I believe that he is weakened,” said Scholz.
According to Chancellor, the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany did not know about the impending rebellion.
Scholz also noted that the situation in the Russian Federation “remains tense, and Germany will act carefully.”
