Since November 2020, after the end of the Second Karabakh war in the disconed territories of Azerbaijan, 88,260 minutes were discovered and neutralized. This was announced by the head of the Board of the Azerbaijani Agency for Monation (Anama) Vugar Suleimanov, speaking at the Second International Humanitarian Conference on Monation in Agdam.
Suleimanov recalled that Azerbaijan is one of the most polluted mines of countries in the world. “These hidden dangers not only lead to human tragedies, but also impede social and economic development. This is also a serious obstacle to peace and stability in the region,” he said.
He noted that since November 2020, 81,386 hectares of territories in the Karabakh region were cleared of mines. “In total, 88,260 ground mines and other explosive surveys of war were discovered and neutralized, including 28,259 anti -personnel mines, 15,303 anti -tank mines and 44,698 unexploded ammunition. Despite the reached progress, the threat of ground mines is maintained,” Suleimanov said.
According to him, over the past 32 months, 302 citizens of Azerbaijan have become victims of Ming and explosive surveillance of war. Of these, 57 were killed, 245 were injured.
