Tensions in relations between Ukraine and Russia can negatively affect the situation in the global grain market, given that the two countries are its large manufacturers, the economist of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Monica Tovov said in a conversation with TASS.
According to the economist, it is difficult to assess how this impact will be, since the prices of food markets depend on a variety of factors. “Taking into account the contribution of Russia and Ukraine to the global grain market, the tensions between these countries affect markets. They affect many factors, such as volatility, weather conditions, prices for production material and much other, therefore it is difficult to say that it will be that the impact, but Of course, the current situation contributes to the creation of uncertainty in the markets, “said the expert.
She added that much depends on the “duration of the current situation and how it will develop.”
Totov reminded that Russia accounts for 20% of the world’s world exports to Ukraine 10%. Russia produces 10% of world wheat volume, in Ukraine – 3%.
