Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky highly appreciated the results of a tripartite meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia in Sochi.
“The trilateral meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan, as a year ago, you can call historical again,” Slutsky wrote in the telegram channel.
According to Slutsky, “in Sochi, the most important step is made, which we all very much hope to bring the final settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.” Slutsky noted that by the end of the year, demarcation mechanisms and border delimitation will be created between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Of course, it will require increased security in border areas, and the agreements reached still have to be fulfilled. However, the positive vector is already set,” said the head of the committee.
His opinion, “the signed statement on the outcome of the talks once again demonstrates the role of Russia as one of the most effective intermediaries in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.”

Earlier, on Friday, Putin, Aliyev and Pashinyan adopted a tripartite statement on the meeting. Upon completion of the joint meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Putin noted that it was “highly useful and timely.”
