Today marks the year since the liberation of the city of Fizuli from many years of Armenian occupation. On October 17, 2020, in his appeal to the people, the President, the Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev announced the liberation of the city of Fizuli and seven villages of the district.
On this day, along with the city of Fizuli, from the occupation forces were purified by the village of Groachmedli, Chiman, Jusharla, Pirachmedli, Musabeili, Ishigli, Dadali.
Details of the operation to free the city of Fizuli are not known, but it is clear that its successful holding has become possible after the liberation of Gadrut and a number of villages in KhojaVend. Direct attack on Fizuli in the first days of the war would be inappropriate – dominant heights around the city were under the control of the enemy. This would lead to numerous losses. Therefore, the Azerbaijani army first of all liberated Gadrut, as well as a number of KhojaVander villages, and, moving from Fizuli’s flanks, took control of the main road leading to the city, and thus the enemy forces deployed in Fizuli were divided into a semicircle. Finally, a decisive attack began to the city, the opponent fled from Fizuli, leaving a large number of military equipment and weapons.
The city of Fizuli, like other settlements, located under the Armenian occupation, was completely destroyed and compared to the Earth. When the Azerbaijani army freed the city, it was impossible to find the building on which the Azerbaijani flag could be watered. As a result, the flag was empty over the building that the enemy used as a military unit.
