Ankara (AA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with the head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on Monday in Sochi.
The head of state arrived on a one -day working visit to Sochi, where he will discuss current regional and global problems with the Russian colleague, as well as bilateral relations.
On the agenda of the negotiations of leaders, the resumption of the “Black Sea Grain Initiative”, which last year has significantly softened the global food crisis.
On July 17, Russia suspended its participation in a transaction concluded with the mediation of Turkey and the UN, on the resumption of grain exports from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
Moscow emphasized that the West has not fulfilled its obligations to export Russian grain and that the insufficient amount of Ukrainian grain enters in need of countries. According to the Russian side, restrictions on Moscow impede the supply of Russian products to the world.
Turkey, on the other hand, declares the importance of fulfilling Russia’s requirements for the export of its own grain and fertilizers, noting that there is no alternative to this initiative.
Ankara makes active diplomatic efforts to restore the agreement of July 2022, and also calls on Kyiv and Moscow to stop the conflict through negotiations.
Note, the “grain transaction” was also on the agenda of the negotiations of the Turkish leader with the Ukrainian colleague, held in July of this year in Istanbul.
