Somalia recalled ambassador in Ethiopia

Somali withdrew the ambassador to Addis Ababe after Ethiopia agreed to access the ports with Somaliland, which proclaimed independence unilaterally.

The official representative of the Somali government Farhan Zhimale called the agreement the violation of sovereign rights of Somali signed the day before.

Addis-Abeba rejects the agreement, he said, calling for the UN and the African Union to gather at an emergency meeting in order to challenge the agreements reached between Ethiopia and Somaliland.

On the eve between Ethiopia and Somaliland, a memorandum of understanding regarding the use of ports and access to the sea was signed.

The document allows Ethiopia to act both for commercial and military purposes off the coast of Somaliland.

The head of Somaliland Musa Bihi Abdi said that Ethiopia recognizes Somaliland’s independence after the implementation of the agreement.
