Son of ex-dictator Markos wins election of President of Philippines

Son and namesake of the late ex-dictator Ferdinand Marcos-the youngest and daughter of the current president, Philippine Rodrigo Duterte, mayor of the city of Davao Sara Duters-Carpio leaders in a universal separation of the closest competitors, testify to preliminary data from the election commission.

According to information, Marcos, claiming the presidency of the country, received more than 30.9 million votes. The vice president of Leni Robredo, who is his main competitor, received 14.7 million votes, followed by Senator Manny Paciao with 3.6 million votes. Also in the election of the country’s vice president, Sarah Duterte-Carpio leads with 31.3 million votes. It is followed by senators Kiko Pangilian and Vicente Sotto III with 9.1 million and 8.1 million votes, respectively.

On May 9, the Philippines chose not only the new president of the republic, but also the vice president, senators, congressmen, as well as thousands of other managers. The current president of the country, 77-year-old Duterte, who cannot be re-elected under the Constitution, will leave his post on June 30.
