Germany blocked the plans of the Spanish government to transfer to Ukraine 40 old German -made tanks Leopard 2A4. In Europe, there is an informal agreement not to transfer tanks to Ukraine. This is reported by Spiegel with reference to sources.
If Berlin agreed, this would be the first time that a member of NATO put combat tanks to Ukraine, notes the publication.
But, according to the sources of the publication, the Spaniards retreated sharply. The Federal Government of Germany warned the Spaniards that this step would be a retreat from the decision adopted by all Western allies (albeit informal) to supply Kyiv tanks.
