Speaker Of Sejm Latvia Called On Sweden To Strengthen Cooperation In Defense Industry

The Chairman of the Sejm Latvia, Daga Mierin, called on the head of the Swedish parliament Andreas Norlen to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of defense industry. This was stated in the press service of the Sejm Latvia.

Mierinya emphasized the importance of joint steps in the development of the defense industry and expressed gratitude to Sweden for the participation of the Swedish military in the multinational brigade of NATO.

According to the Speaker of the Sejm, the arrival of the Swedish battalion in February became a significant contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic.

“Our common task is to develop industrial and military compatibility, to strengthen the stability and technological independence of the region,” Mierinya said.

In turn, Nollen positively appreciated the initiative of Latvia to create a “drone coalitic”, which, according to him, could become a new platform for military cooperation.

Separate attention was paid to the issues of cybersecurity, information stability and counteracting hybrid threats.

As part of the visit, Norlen also met with the vice-speaker of the Sejm Zanda Kalnini-Lukashevitsa and other parliamentarians, discussing the prospects of parliamentary and economic interaction between Latvia and Sweden.
