Special forces of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia will conduct joint exercises

The First Deputy Minister of Defense, who is an official visit to Georgia, is the chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, Colonel General Kerim Veliev visited the defense forces of this country.

During the meeting, K. Vereiev passed before the honorary guard, after which the state hymns of both countries were heard. In accordance with the protocol, an entry was left in the “Book of Honorary Guests.” Then Veliev met with the commander of the forces of the defense of Georgia, Major General George Matiashvili.

At the meeting, issues of ensuring peace and security in the region, the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral military cooperation were discussed. The parties exchanged views on ensuring the safety of regional economic projects, further expanding cooperation in military-technical, military-educational, military medical and other areas. The participation and continuation of the training of military personnel of the Azerbaijani army in the courses organized in the Sachher mining and training school was positively evaluated.

It was emphasized that joint exercises, conferences and trainings conducted between the armies of Azerbaijan and Georgia are regular in nature, the importance of these measures was noted both in the bilateral and tripartite format of Azerbaijani-Georgia, as well as within NATO. .

The parties discussed preparations for the upcoming in October of this year by joint exercises of special forces “Caucasian Oryol-2022” with the participation of military personnel of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as issues of organizing joint teachings “Caucasian Orel-2023” and command and staff exercises since Computer support “Eternity-2023”, which is planned to be carried out next year. It was noted that joint military exercises create ample opportunities to increase the level of interaction and combat training of the armies of the two countries, as well as the exchange of experience.

Having mentioned the mutual support of the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of the two states, the parties especially noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which have reached the level of strategic partnership, create favorable conditions for the further development of military cooperation that meets the interests of military departments of both countries.

The meeting emphasized that Azerbaijani-Georgian military cooperation was aimed at ensuring stability and security in the region.
