The elected US President Donald Trump may want to discuss the topic of nuclear weapons with the leader of North Korea Kim Jong -un.
This was reported to lawmakers in the National Intelligence Service of South Korea (NIS), reports Yonhap.
“There is a chance that Trump would like to establish a dialogue with Kim, since he considers his previous summits with him as the main achievement of his first presidential term,” Nis noted.
If the United States considers it difficult to destroy the DPRK nuclear weapons in a short time, then they may negotiate, reach a small agreement to stop the North Korean nuclear program or achieve disarmament, the department noted.
Trump held negotiations three times with the North Korean leader Kim on nuclear problems during his first presidential term, but negotiations came to a dead end after the failure of the summit in Hanoi in early 2019.
