Sputnik chief Lithuania is arrested for espionage

Sputnik chief Lithuania Marat Kasem is detained in Riga in the case of espionage and violation of the EU sanctions after he was detained by the Latvian special services, Russian media reported.

According to the report, the court session was held on January 5, it considered the issue of choosing a preventive measure. Casema’s lawyer insisted that he be released on bail, but the court decided to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

It is noted that KAMS is accused of violating the economic sanctions of the European Union in relation to the Russian Federation, as well as in espionage. The article for espionage, according to Lithuanian law, provides for up to 20 years in prison.
