The US State Department notified Congress of the approval of the sale of Turkey sets to modernize the tactical network exchange of the Link-16 F-16 fighter. The correspondent of the Anadolu agency (AA) was reported by sources familiar with the situation.
The US Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), which is responsible for the supply of military equipment and weapons abroad, has not yet made an official statement about this.
However, according to sources, the package includes appropriate equipment and engineering support for the modernization of Link-16, which are at the disposal of Turkey F-16 to the Block Upgrade-2 level, as well as an automatic system for preventing clashes with the ground.
Congress is endowed with the authority to protest within 15 working days the State Department’s decision regarding permits for the sale of weapons and military equipment to NATO members.
