State Department: “There is no greater than USA, a supporter of sovereignty of Azerbaijan and Armenia”

The head of the US State Department, the US State Department, did not comment on the “efforts” of Russia to resolve the conflict Baku and Yerevan, answering on Friday at a briefing for journalists to the question of the upcoming tripartite negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, according to the Russian media.

“I will not comment on the efforts of the Russian Federation directly. But I will say that these two countries themselves decide what approach they will choose for these upcoming negotiations. I think the world knows about the track record of Russia when it comes to its neighbors,” said Price .

According to him, Moscow has “little respect for the sovereignty of neighbors,” therefore, “it is hardly a reliable partner for a long -term perspective.”

Price indicated, “that this contrasts sharply with the United States. Our only intention is to help these countries ensure the cessation of violence at the expense of a strong comprehensive world, to which the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan are so desperate.”

“from certain circles, including from Moscow, the incorrect information continues to come and, probably, more accurately, disinformation regarding our intentions regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said Price.

According to him, “the USA has been a partner for both these countries”: “We have been its partners for decades. There are no more supporter of the sovereignty and independence of the countries of the South Caucasus.” The United States only want Baku and Yerevan to pursue a foreign policy “regardless of Moscow or any other country of the world.”

“We spoke in the spirit that Armenia and Azerbaijan should meet in any most useful format for them, clearly told them about this, and we really believe in the practical value of direct dialogue in order to resolve problems and achieve this strong world”, – added Price.

Earlier, the Kremlin press service reported the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation will hold tripartite negotiations in Sochi on October 31. The meeting will take place on the initiative of the Russian side.
