State Guard service will no longer ensure security of first president of Kazakhstan

The State Security Service of Kazakhstan will no longer ensure the security of the first president of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The corresponding decree of July 17, 2023 was signed by the President of the Republic of Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev.

Previously, the state protection service ensured the safety of the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also was responsible for the identification, prevention and suppression of offenses directed against life, health, rights, freedoms, dignity and property of Elbasy, ensuring its international and other types of communication in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Now these points are excluded from the Regulation on the State Security Service. Also, the organization and conduct of security measures to ensure the security of the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan

are excluded from the provision.

The decree is enforced from August 4, 2023.

Previously, criminal liability was excluded for the public insult and violation of the inviolability of Elbasy.
