Statements about Ukraine cost Minister of Defense of Romania a position

Romanian Minister of Defense Vasile Pynok resigned after he announced the need to resume negotiations at the end of the war in Ukraine.

In his statement, the Romanian minister noted that Kyiv himself cannot participate in them, because he does not allow the loss of its territories, so the United States and other NATO countries should do this. At the same time, the Pynok called negotiations the only chance to conclude the world, even if they end in a “frozen conflict,” writes Moscow Times.

In response, Romania President Klaus Johannis recalled that only the Ukrainian government can make a decision on any dialogue. And the parliamentary party “Union of Salvation of Romania” (USR) asked Prime Minister Nicholas Chuke to dismiss the pipe. The head of government, in turn, noted that the statements of the head of the Ministry of Defense do not reflect the official position of the country.

The Minister reported his resignation on the social network. According to him, the reason was the “impossibility of further work” with the president of the country. The punch headed the Ministry of Defense since 2021.

Romania was among the nine countries of Europe, which declared their readiness to support Ukraine’s entry into NATO. Also, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Montenegro, Slovakia and Northern Macedonia spoke.
