Steinmeier announced threat of ultra -right extremism in Federal Republic of Germany

Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeyer announced a threat to violence in the country by ultra-right extremists.

This is the President of the Federal Republic of Germany stated at a ceremony in Zolingen, dedicated to the memory of those who died in the tragedy on May 29, 1993.

Steinmeier said that 30 years after the tragic events in Zolingen, citizens continue to grieve about the dead.

The head of state also honored the memory of Mevluda Gench, who lost five children in this tragedy.

“Mevluda Gench could not come to terms with pain and loss. However, she was remembered by the public as a peaceful person, always called not to respond to violence violence. She believed that humanity was stronger than hatred,” he said.

Steinmeier noted that the ideology that prompted people to commit such crimes in Germany, was ignored for a long time.

“We are talking about ultra -right extremism, racism and xenophobia. Crimes committed by far -right extremists are directed against people of another religion and nationality. They are committed against people with dark hair, foreign names and confessions of other religion. Refugees, migrants, homeless people are the goal , disabled people and those who openly stand for a tolerant society, ”he said.

Steinmeier called the actions of the ultra -right and racists terrorism. “This ultra -right terrorism was in Germany and to Zolingen, continued after him,” he said.

The head of state said that every resident of Germany should oppose racism and extremism.
