Stoltenberg about entry of Finland and Sweden in NATO

Finland and Sweden should join NATO by autumn, they fulfilled all the conditions of Ankara.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense ministers.

He said that he was flying to discuss this situation with the Turkish leadership.

“My position is that both countries have fulfilled all the requirements set forth in a tripartite memorandum (adopted jointly with Turkey at the NATO summit in Madrid last June – Ed.), Finland and Sweden to NATO members. 28 NATO countries should become NATO countries. There have already been ratified documents about the introduction, but Turkey and Hungary are not yet. I am actively working to ratify documents for both countries at the same time. Tomorrow I am flying to Turkey, including to discuss this issue, ”he said.
