NATO does not consider himself a participant in the conflict with Russia, but supplies and will supply Kyiv more and more complex equipment and weapons.
This was announced at a press conference in Brussels by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“Neither NATO nor NATO allies are part of the conflict. We provide support to Ukraine that protects itself. It has the right to protect itself, and we have the right to help Ukraine. Therefore, NATO and allies are not part of the conflict, but we support Ukraine, ”he said, answering the question of journalists.
According to Stoltenberg, “the types of supplied weapons changed, like the course of the war”: “In the beginning it was important to provide light anti -tank weapons, then advanced artillery systems, then it became obvious that advanced air defense, and now heavy weapons.”
He noted that “The theme of aircraft is not urgent at present.”
“We have consultations on the types of systems that must be delivered to Ukraine,” said the Secretary General, emphasizing that the priority is now the supply of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and ammunition.
