NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that next week he would organize a meeting with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristerssson. He stated this according to the results of consultations of the delegations of Turkey, Finland and Sweden at the NATO headquarters on the topic of Stockholm’s applications for joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to Stoltenberg, the meeting will be held on July 10 in Vilnius on the eve of the NATO summit.
He noted that according to the results of today’s meeting, progress was achieved. The head of the bloc said that all negotiation participants agreed that the full membership of Sweden meets the interests of the security of all NATO allies.
Stoltenberg expressed hope for the speedy receipt of Sweden the status of a full -fledged NATO member.
“We saw shares against Turkey and NATO in Sweden. They are aimed at preventing Sweden entry into NATO, undermining cooperation in the fight against terrorism and weaken our alliance. Stoltenberg added that the delay in Stockholm joining the Alliance “will please the RSC and the President of Russia Putin.”
