NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in his youth was against the membership of Norway, his country, in NATO. He told about this to the participants of the summer camp of the youth wing of the Norway’s working party on the Norwegian island of Utea.
“In the 1970s, I believed that Norway should leave NATO as soon as possible. Then we sang: Norway, Norway, to exit NATO!” – he noted, adding that in the 1980s he changed his position, but “never intended” to become the head of NATO.
According to him, he wanted to work with socially significant questions and statistics, and then, “one fine day” to head the Central Bank of the country.
