“The course on Euro -Atlantic integration is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. A recent application for membership presents the position of more than 70% of our citizens who unequivocally support and seek to exercise Ukraine’s right to participate in the collective security system,” he said.
He added that “NATO doors remain open, and Ukraine will once become a member of the alliance, but at the moment the priority is to provide support and contribute to its successes on the battlefield.”
Secretary General is sure that the situation of Ukraine differs from the situation of Finland and Sweden, which have long been “NATO allies.” At their invitation to NATO, the member countries reached a consensus.
