Today at the Supreme Court considered the cassation complaint of the former chief of the Main Directorate of the Divated Ministry of National Security, Major General Akif Chovdarov.
According to Haqqin.az, according to the decision of the Supreme Court, the cassation appeal was partially satisfied, and the case was sent to the Baku Court of Appeal for revision.
Note that Akif Chovdarov asked the Supreme Court to justify him in connection with the sentenced and return the confiscated property.
The former head of the Main Directorate of the Divaled Ministry of National Security Akif Chovdarov and other defendants in his case were arrested in 2015. The verdict of the Baku Military Court Akif Chovdarov was sentenced to 12 years, Salim Mamedov by 11 years, Akif Aliyev by 5 years and Orhan Osmanov by 4 years of imprisonment.
Most of their property in the amount of 33 million manat was confiscated. Part of the convicted and victims, dissatisfied with the verdict, filed appeals.
In addition, members of the family A.chowdarov – Son Ruslan Chovdarov, the wife of Ibada Chovdarov, the daughter of Gyunai Airdjanova and Aida Gadimov also appealed to the court with an appeal complaint. The Baku Court of Appeal did not satisfy their complaint.
Akif Chovdarov was pardoned by the order of President Ilham Aliyev “On the pardon of a number of convicted persons” in 2020.
