In Sweden, the Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurahmanov, one of the famous critics of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, disappeared. Abdurakhmanov and his family members have not been in touch for several days, according to the Chechen human rights association “Vaimond”, which helps in Sweden, which helps refugees from Chechnya in Sweden and sources of BBC.
Together with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, his brother Mokhmad, a representative of Vaimonda, also stopped in touch, the Organization said.
In early December, messages about the murder of Abdurahmanov appeared in Telegram, a video was published allegedly with the body of a blogger. However, users reported that another person is captured on the video.
December 2, spokesman for the Assembly of Chechens of Europe, Shamil Albakov, told the Caucasian Knot that he could not confirm information about the death of Abdurahmanov.
BBC recalls that Tumso Abdurakhmanov in 2015 was forced to leave Chechnya because of the conflict with the Kadyrov family. The conflict began because of the beard of Abdurakhmanov – she did not like the nephew of the head of Chechnya Islam Kadyrov, he stopped the man on the street, took the phone and took him to his home, where Abdurahmanov was interrogated for a long time about his religious views. That same night, Abdurakhmanov left Chechnya with his family. In Europe, he became a popular opposition blogger. Almost half a million people were subscribed to YouTube, the last video in it was published three weeks ago. Abdurakhmanov conducted joint broadcasts with Chechen officials, journalists, children of the former presidents of Chechnya, Johar Dudaev and Aslan Maskhadov. After one of these broadcasts, the speaker of the Chechnya parliament Magomed Daudov declared Blogger blood feud. An attempt was already committed on Abdurahmanov: in February 2020, he was attacked with a hammer by a man who sneaked in his apartment.
In January 2021, the court in Sweden sentenced two people to ten and eight years in the case of an attempt on the murder of Abdurahmanov.
