Sweden will continue to continue close cooperation with Turkey on the fight against terrorism.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Tobias Billstrom at a press conference, commenting on the approval by the Turkish parliament of the bill on Sweden entry into NATO.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey, noting that “they will continue to maintain close cooperation with Turkey within the framework of NATO.”
According to Billstrem, the process should end with the approval of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Swedish minister also commented on the issue of “Anadol” about how Sweden membership in NATO will affect her relations with Turkey.
“Naturally, the approval of the great National Assembly of Turkey made the agreements that we concluded earlier. We agreed on a tripartite memorandum (Turkey, Finland and Sweden) at the NATO Madrid summit in 2022, and the agreement concluded later in Vilnius. These agreements remain In force. Our fight against terrorism will continue and henceforth in close cooperation with Turkey, ”he said.
