Measuring stations in Sweden and Denmark registered two powerful underwater explosions shortly before detecting gas leaks on Russian gas pipelines “North Stream-1” and “North Stream-2” in the same area on Monday, the Swedish edition of SVT.
The Swedish National Seismical Network discovered two obvious explosions in the gas leaks on Monday. One of the explosions had a magnitude of 2.3 and was registered at 30 measuring stations in the south of Sweden.
“It is clearly visible how the waves bounce off the bottom to the surface. Without a doubt, it was an explosion,” said Bjorn Lund, teacher of seismology and director of the Swedish national seismic network, which measures Swedish earthquakes and explosions.
The first explosion was recorded at 02:03 on Monday night, the second at 19:04 in the evening on Monday.
