Sweden may not count on the fact that Turkey ratifies the country’s entry into NATO until the end of 2022, Bloomberg writes with reference to sources.
The main reason for this is the dissatisfaction of Turkey due to the non-giving Sweden of the people whom Ankara considers the terrorists of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. Many of them are hiding in Sweden, and Turkey requires their extradition. In addition, Ankara requires not to give political asylum to the PKK members in principle.
According to sources, since NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will come to Turkey on November 3, Ankara hopes to see serious steps, especially from Sweden.
At the same time, Turkey is satisfied with cooperation with Finland, which also applied for joining the Alliance.
