Sweden government will send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
This was stated by Minister of Defense Paul Johnson at a press conference in the city of Buden.
“We intend to provide about 10 tanks,” he said.
According to the minister, the tanks will be sent “as soon as possible”.
“This will affect defense capability in the long run and, above all, will affect the growth of defense forces,” commented the head of the department.
He added that Sweden will also send Ukraine 2 anti -aircraft guns.
, in total, Sweden provided Ukraine with support packages worth 10.6 billion kroons ($ 960 million).
As explained in a press release from the government office, Sweden intends to transfer to Ukraine part of the HAWK air defense systems (Fire Unit 97). The kingdom in cooperation with Germany also intends to “provide access to additional IRIS-T air defense systems.” Stockholm, in order to further strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine, will transfer to Ukraine to 10 Leopard 2 tanks.
