Switzerland and NATO concluded declaration of cooperation until 2024

Switzerland and the North Atlantic Alliance entered into a document on the goals of mutual cooperation for 2023-2024 as part of the Partnership for Peace program against the background of the decisions of the Swiss authorities to strengthen the security policy.

This was announced on Thursday by the Federal Council of Switzerland.

The parties entered into an individual partnership program for 2023-2024, which has no compulsory legal force, within the framework of the program “Partnership for the Peace”, which is a participant in Switzerland since 1996.

The program defines the tasks of cooperation and formulates general goals, such as the continuation of political dialogue and, in particular, the development of cooperation in the field of new technologies and innovation, stability, promotion of women, peace and security, disarmament and non -proliferation, as well as cyber protection.

Most of the goals of the NATO partnership program and Switzerland are aimed at strengthening operational compatibility, for example, between air forces and communication systems.

“There are also plans to expand the participation of Switzerland in the centers of the advanced experience of NATO and to second staff officers for NATO objects,” the Swiss Federal Council said in a statement.
