The possibility of accession of Syria to the organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) as an observer discussed the Committee of the Russian-Syrian Friendship on December 19 in Damascus with a parliamentary delegation from Russia, reports SANA.
As the agency notes, the topic of Jointing Syria to the CSTO raised at the meeting the head of the Russian delegation to the State Duma Dmitry Dmitry Sablin, who “expressed hope for the participation of Syria as an observer in the work of the CSTO.”
The organization of the collective security treaty was established in 1992 in Tashkent. The CSTO includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
