In the Syrian capital of Damascus under the summer residence of Maher Assad, the brother of the overthrown leader of Bashar al -Assad, tunnels with safe and armored rooms were discovered, the doors of which cannot be opened.
ANADOLOM ANADOLASISEED AND Summer Residence of Maher Assad, commander of the 4th armored division, an elite unit of the army of the overthrown regime.
A three-story residence located on a hill overlooking the capital, not far from the Damascus-Beyut highway, is surrounded by high walls, and in a spacious court there is a helicopter platform.
On the ground floor of the residence there are parking and a conference room, and there is an armored door in the basement leading to the tunnel network.
Going down 22 steps down the stairs opening from the door, you can get into the intermediate section, where the tunnel is supposed to be designed for relaxation. Going down for another 130 steps, you can get to the tunnel network.
It is noteworthy that tunnels equipped with electrical wiring, ventilation, bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom are protected by armored doors.
In some rooms of the main tunnel leading to the right and left branches, there are empty safe and stands for demonstrating a luxury clock.
There are two rooms with armored doors in the tunnels, which have not yet been opened, and their contents are unknown.
One of the branches of the tunnels network, about 3 kilometers long, leads to the main headquarters of the 4th armored division of the overthrown army. In the direction of the Syria-Livan highway, the entry for vehicles to the tunnels is also visible.
Fayz Muhammad, one of the residence guards, told Anadolu that Maher Assad used the residence as an office and a place of rest.
According to Muhammad, safe rooms are in the tunnels under the residence. “In the tunnels where the safe are located, there are two rooms with armored doors that have not yet been opened. The residence also contains documents and records of the 4th armored division. These documents contain orders and correspondence of Maher Assad,” he said.
