Tajikistan And France Strengthen Energy Cooperation

Negotiations passed between the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma, the Ambassador of France to Tajikistan Elsa Pignol, as well as representatives of the French energy company Electricite de France S.A. (EDF). “

The parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of interaction and emphasized the mutual desire to further strengthen strategic partnership.

Particular attention was paid to the possibilities of expanding cooperation, including the participation of EDF in survey work on the construction of hydroelectric power plants on the Zarafshan River.

In addition, the French side showed interest in the development of new initiatives and participation in energy projects aimed at increasing the efficiency of the use of water resources of the region.

As part of the negotiations, the prospects for interaction with the joint Tajik-Uzbek company Taus Hydroma were discussed.

The meeting between countries confirms the desire of Tajikistan to attract foreign investment in the energy sector, and also emphasizes the importance of cooperation with France in the implementation of strategically important infrastructure projects.
