Tajikistan And UNHCR Discussed Refugee Support Projects

The Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirodzhiddin Mukhriddin discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of protection and support of refugees with the head of the Supreme Commissioner of the UN Supreme Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Tajikistan Ivan Saleev, Avesta reports.

During the meeting, the parties considered issues of humanitarian aid, as well as efforts aimed at improving the living conditions of refugees in the country.

According to the Tajik media, the country, being a participant in the international conventions to protect refugees, actively cooperates with UNHCR in issues of placing and social integration of forced immigrants.

In addition, in Tajikistan, projects for supporting persons who need international protection, including access to education, healthcare and employment, are actively operating in Tajikistan.

The representative of UNHCR Saleev emphasized the importance of further cooperation with the Tajik authorities and international partners in order to strengthen support measures.

According to him, UNHCR highly appreciates the contribution of Tajikistan to defend refugee rights and providing humanitarian assistance.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue joint work to help refugees in Tajikistan.
