Tallinn supported extension of temporary protection of Ukrainian military refugees for one year

The Estonian government on Thursday, June 6 supported the proposal of the European Commission to extend the temporary protection of Ukrainian military refugees until March 2026, ERR.

The government approved the position of Estonia at the June session of the EU Council and the Internal Affairs of the EU – Estonia supports the extension of temporary protection for military refugees in Ukraine, said the Minister of Internal Affairs Lauri Laaenemette.

At the June meeting of ministers of the internal affairs, it is planned to achieve fundamental consent by the new decision of the Council, which will extend the temporary protection of Ukrainian military refugees until March 2026.

At the moment, temporary defense is valid until March 2025.
