The TCG Sancaktar Turkish ship, who participated in the humanitarian mission in Lebanon under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Defense of Turkey, delivered 378 evacuated citizens to Mersin.
After the TCG Bayraktar landing vessel delivered 588 evacuated citizens to Mersin, they were joined by the TCG SANCAKTAR ship, which also performed the humanitarian mission in Lebanon.
The ship arrived at the port of Mersin and, after the necessary procedures, passengers went ashore accompanied by military personnel.
Citizens in need of medical care were delivered to hospitals by ambulances, the rest were sent from the port on buses.
“It was very pleasant to be at home”
One of the evacuated citizens, Ayup Sabri Kyrgyz, expressed gratitude to the Turkish rescuers for the assistance provided. “They did not sleep for 36 hours, took care of us as children, provided us with food and water. I am very grateful to everyone. It was very pleasant to be at home. Let Allah protect our homeland, our people and our state,” he said. < /p>
Previously, TCG Sancaktar and TCG Bayraktar landing vessels delivered 300 tons of humanitarian aid to the Bayut port, collected by the Office to prevent and eliminate the consequences of Emergency Situations under the President of Turkey (AFAD).
After unloading the humanitarian cargo, the court began to evacuate citizens and went back to Turkey, accompanied by two frigates and two guard ships.
