The capital of Iran suffers from the strongest drought over the past 50 years, said Mohammari’s water official, speaking about a 97 percent reduction in monthly precipitation compared to last year, ISNA reports.
“From September 23, 0.4 millimeters of precipitation fell in Tehran. For comparison: during the same period 2020, the figure was 14.3 mm,” said Shahrijari.
According to him, underground and surface water are in critical condition, and over the past 50 years, such a drought was observed.
