The Armenian National Congress, headed by the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, will not take part in the elections under the current Electoral Code. This is stated in a statement on the unofficial ANC Internet portal Ilur.am.
Recall that on March 18, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that early elections would be held in Armenia on June 20.
“From the statements of the representatives of the authorities and the parliamentary opposition, we can conclude that these political forces agreed to hold elections within the framework of the current Electoral Code while maintaining the” rating “voting. Confirming that the” majority-rating “system imposed by the former authorities on our society with the help of mass fraud, was one of the main reasons for political corruption and crisis in political systems, serving as the most important tool for the reproduction of power, we strongly reject the decision to hold elections within the framework of this law, “the message says.
The ANC believes that conducting an election campaign in this way will cause a new crisis and will be “a treacherous deal behind the back of the people.” “Civil Treaty”, “Prosperous Armenia” and the PAP are directly responsible for the failure of the program to improve the political system of Armenia.
Congress expressed the hope that political forces will adopt a new EC before the elections.
