Thailand Accepted Invitation To Become “partner” Brix

Thailand accepted the invitation to become a “partner” BRICS. This was reported by the newspaper Bangkok Post with reference to the representative of the government of Thailand Jirai Hungsub.

According to the government representative, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the invitation to become a partner of BRICS, which followed after the summit of the association held in Russia on October 23-24.

Hungsub noted that the invitation to become a “country-partner” BRICS was accepted during the vote.

Meanwhile, the Thai Foreign Ministry said that the partnership in BRICS will benefit the country by expanding trade, investment, food and energy security.

Further, the department needs to inform, by the decision of Russia, the current chairman of BRICS.

BRICS occupies an important place in the world economy

The abbreviation “Brik”, which initially did not include South Africa, was used in 2001 by the British economist Jim O’nil in an article, which emphasized the potential of the growth of Brazil, Russia, India and China.

The association was designated in 2009 as an unofficial platform for balancing the world dominance of the United States and Western countries with the initiatives of Russia. A year later, with the invitation of South Africa, the association got its current name – Brix.

The founders of BRICS are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In recent years, countries such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates have joined the unification. BRICS, the total number of members of which this year increased to 9 due to the accession of new countries, occupies an important place in the world economy.
