Thousands of deconstations from military service are amnesty in Armenia

The Government of Armenia announced the use of amnesty against persons convicted or declared on charges of charges of evasion from mandatory military service before the beginning of the war in Karabakh in the fall of 2020.

“The solution applies to persons who have reached until September 26, 2020, that is, before the start of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, 27 years for the rank and 35 years for officers, suspected, accused or convicts exclusively under Article 327 of the Criminal Code of Armenia ( Evasion from the passage of urgent military service, training fees or mobilization), “said Armenian Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan, interfax quotes it.

According to him, the amnesty will also be distributed to persons in respect of whom the punishment in the form of imprisonment was conditionally not applied or postponed, as well as on persons in the wanted list. “Amnesty will be distributed to 5,131 people and 124 persons already convicted,” said Badasyan.

In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the overwhelming majority of those who were wanted in Armenia, about 90%, are wanted precisely in connection with the service evasion in the army.
