Russia will not be able to win in the energy war with the West. Fatikh Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, called three reasons why this is impossible, writes Bild.
According to Birola, at the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 75% of export gas and 55% of the Russian export oil were received by European countries. Thus, the Russian Federation has lost the largest buyer of Russian energy resources. According to the expert, in order to supply gas and oil to Asian countries, Russia will have to spend decades and significant funds for the construction of new pipelines.
In addition, Russia will not be able to actively supply gas and oil even by sea. Tanker with energy resources goes from Russia to the EU for about five days, while to Asia – from 65 to 75 days.
The latest reason is that the Russian energy gym will need many latest technologies for the development of geologically complex oil and gas fields. However, due to sanctions and war in Ukraine, most Western technological companies left the Russian market. This will make it difficult not only an increase, but even maintaining the previous level of prey.
