Azerbaijani customs officers stopped two attempts by drug smuggling.
In the press service of the State Customs Committee, the HAQQIN.AZ reported that the Mercedes-Benz cargo vehicle with a state number of 76AA601 / 76AAJ764, which was ruled by a Turkish citizen, transporting decorative stone and bath accessories from Poland with transit through the territory of Nakhchivan Autonomous Of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the checkpoint of the State Border of Julf was subjected to customs inspection. During the check in the car, heroin was discovered with a total weight of 102 kilograms of 740 grams, hidden in plastic baths for 51 shower cabins, which were in the trailer.
After that, another Mercedes-Benz vehicle entered the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Movement route, cargo, importer details and car exporter were identical to the previous one. During the customs inspection of the car with a civilian license plate 76-493 / 76-425, which was ruled by a Turkish citizen, at the checkpoint at the bottom of plastic baths for 2 shower cabins was detected by heroin with a total weight of 4 kilograms of 230 grams.
The total weight of narcotic drugs identified on both facts of smuggling was 106 kilograms of 970 grams. In the Investigation Department of the State Customs Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a criminal case was initiated under Article 206.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
