Western and Ukrainian officials allow the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces) from the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region amid the gradual promotion of Russian forces.
This was reported by the British newspaper The Times with reference to sources.
According to the publication, in the West and in Ukraine they realize that Ukrainian troops in the city can be completely surrounded and left without supply routes. In this regard, they recognize the possibility of retreating the Armed Forces from Bakhmut. As the newspaper noted, in the light of the success of the Russian forces, the Ukrainian authorities began to publicly diminish the significance of the fighting for Bakhmut.
Earlier, in an interview with the Italian media, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that it is important for Ukraine to protect Bakhmut, but it will fight in this section of the front while it is reasonable.
