Tokaev: Friendship With Turkmenistan Is Priority For Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev arrived on an official visit to Turkmenistan.

According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, Tokayev’s official visit to Turkmenistan began with a meeting with the chairman of the Hulk Maslahata (People’s Council) Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.

The Kazakh leader expressed gratitude to the chairman of the Hulk Maslahatta for hospitality and noted his personal contribution to the development of cooperation of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

Tokaev emphasized that Kazakh-Turkmen relations are dynamically developing in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual support. According to him, the official visit to Turkmenistan is designed to bring interstate ties to a qualitatively new level.

“We are very responsible for the development of cooperation with your country. We are strategic partners. You today said about the work of the joint intergovernmental commission. I also watched work, instructed the government in which direction you need to move, what decisions should be made , since really friendly relations with Turkmenistan are a priority for us, Tokaev said.

In turn, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the agreements that will be reached as part of his official visit to Turkmenistan will contribute to the deepening of multifaceted interaction between the two countries.

During the meeting, an exchange of views on key issues of bilateral political, trade, economic and cultural and humanitarian cooperation took place.

It is noted that during the visit, negotiations of Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov will also take place.

The head of the Kazakh state will also open a monument to Abai in Ashgabat and take part in the international forum “The relationship of time and civilizations – the basis of peace and development”.
