Tokaev instructed to increase oil supplies bypassing Russia

Oil transportation through the Transkaspian route (international transport corridor, runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Kaspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Turkey and European countries) will be brought up to 20 million tons per year. This was the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev at a meeting with the Mangistau region, the press service of the head of the Kazakh state in Telegram.

According to Tokayev, taking into account the current situation in world markets, the further development of the Transcaspian route is of particular importance.

“On this issue, we have mutual understanding with partner countries. We need to intensify all the capacities of the ports of Aktau and Kuryk in order to increase the throughput and bringing the volume of oil transportation to 20 million tons per year,” the president of Kazakhstan added.

Tokaev noted that, due to a good geographical position, the Mangistau region has great potential, and the Aktau port-port can rightfully be called the “sea gates of Kazakhstan.” The president called on rationally using the strengths and turn the region into a transport and transit node of world significance.
