The initiative of the “C5 + Germany” dialogue is able to give a powerful impulse of mutual cooperation between countries. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev at a meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia with the President of Germany, the press service of the Kazakh leader reports.
Tokaev presented the priority areas of cooperation, to which the joint efforts of the leaders of the region could be directed. First of all, he dwelled on the issues of trade and economic interaction, the development of new transit and transport corridors, cooperation in the field of energy.
During the meeting, great attention was paid to climate change and water problems. The participants discussed the agenda associated with the melting of glaciers and a change in the environmental situation in Central Asia. According to the President of Kazakhstan, the region’s experience in solving these problems is very important for the region.
Tokaev also raised issues related to the geopolitical situation around the region of Central Asia and the European Union. The current situation in Afghanistan was considered.
Meanwhile, Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in his speech expressed the opinion that the crisis around Ukraine seriously affects European security, as well as the security of the countries of Central Asia.
In response to this, Tokaev again announced the need for wise diplomacy aimed at finding mutually acceptable peaceful decisions. He emphasized that the parties need to start real negotiations.
The President of Kazakhstan spoke for the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries of Central Asia and Germany.
In particular, he supported the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects, programs to study the German language.
The meeting was also the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Hulk Maslahata Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.
